Summary of Role
The Application Support Specialist will assist in development and production application support and will lead efforts to improve existing management and deployment processes.? The candidate will be responsible for receiving incidents and requests, analyzing these requests and either responding to them with a solution (incident/bug fix) or escalating it to the other IT teams. These teams may include -among others- the application development team, database administrators, and infrastructure support team. The focus will be in supporting in Linux & Java and it is not a System Admin role.
Major Tasks
- Support in Perl, PHP, HTML, Linux and Java based applications
- Investigation, analyzing and solving incidents, continuous improvement and preserve the technical infrastructure
- Share rotating 24x7 production support duties
- Handle production support /on-call duties
- Operation and troubleshooting of Java applications and Shell/Batch jobs
- Application deployment and configuration management support
- Create and update documentation for support team members
- Recording and reporting of bugs, issues and change requests
- Liaising with internal and external software suppliers to ensure incidents are progressed Support Business End Users
