Our client is an innovative Chemical company servicing the industry with a strong portfolio of products for over half a century; this company offers a solid foundation for growth. Much of the growth is down to a focus on R&D with high performing materials and return on investment. They focus on a number of areas, with a vast number of other market areas and supplying coatings and performance additives to the leading industry names. Biocides included.

They require a strong all rounded Sales and Marketing individual who has solid background of selling into the Pains and Coatings or/and adhesives industry.

Responsibilities will include:

As a Director Sales you will manage a team of sales managers working autonmously. Your responsibility will be strategically develop the department to develop sales and play a central role in selecting an efficient sales and marketing strategy. This is specifically for the paints, coatings and adhesives market. It is therefore essential you come from that background and are familiar with such products.

Heding up the department and reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will be required to manage budgets, build relationships with key clients and maintain such relationships across the Benelux region.


Participates and directs the development and implementation of strategic and tactical marketing and sales business plans that increase gross profit and expand market share.

Develops and oversees the creation of achievable qualitative and quantitative sales performance measures that satisfy customer requirements and support business plan objectives.

Develops on an on-going basis, market intelligence required to gain competitive information as well as discover new applications for existing products in order gain a competitive edge.

Provides customer with 'best in class' customer care in order meet business plan objectives.

Directs the sales force to emphasize profitability when selling various products to the customer by identifying the value added components of Company products in order create market demand.

Keeps abreast of new developments with market place so that research and development can create profitable products.

Creates competitive pricing strategies that articulate the added value of Company products.

Directs the management of the entire sales cycle so that customers can receive products that satisfy current and future needs.

Continuously provides the sales organization with product knowledge and effective selling and profitable closing techniques.

Incorporates continuous quality improvement into the entire sales cycle by training the sales force to focus on the customer's comprehensive product requirements as well as the intangible qualitative segments of the customer's business.


Bachelor's degree in Business or Scientific degree required, MBA preferred. Fifteen to eighteen years of increasing marketing and/or sales experience within the specialty chemical or allied industry is required. Must have a documented history of successful and profitable sales experiences. Seven to nine years of successful sales management experience, with the biocides and/or additives segment of specialty chemicals preferred. Experience with customers in Paint and Coatings, Home and Personal Care, and other industrial markets that rely on anti-microbial chemicals and additives/performance materials. Fluency in German and English is required.
