Role purpose
- Operates a safe and reliable data centre according to agreed procedures and standards
Key accountabilities
- Acts as the site responsible person, overseeing and controlling all activities at the premises
- Maintains standards for the data centre in line with best practice
- Maintains processes and procedures relating to the data centre
- Follows strictly, but using judgement where necessary, all relevant instructions and procedures relating to malfunction, safety and security
- Manages the facilities and physical environment of Colt Internal Data Centres and other facilities such as communications rooms, ensuring that they comply with security management and controls, legal and regulatory requirements, best practice and exceed the required SLAs
- Ensures the provision of hardware support and maintenance contracts for all installed equipment and supporting facilities
- Operates as the SPOF for the maintenance company for these locations
- Supports the on call regime for the region (Dusseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt and all LDN sites in the region)
- Ensures all environmental services are fully operational including power (generators, UPS’s, transformers etc), air conditioning (chillers, Room cooling units etc) and security (fire detection, suppression, access, CCTV etc)
- Manages and reports on incidents relating to the data centres
- Carries out routine monitoring, logging and reporting tasks, taking defined action on simple problems, known errors and documented workarounds
- Carries out and observes all associated administrative and clerical procedures
- Modifies queuing parameters and job priorities within defined limits, to improve job throughput or the processing of output
- Supports the on-going projects in the data centre
- Provides regular site tours for potential customers
- High level of travel required to: 1 day Cologne, 1,5 days D?sseldorf and 2,5 days in Frankfurt.
